Four breed pages, one harness

Find their harness

Four dogs, one harness. Pick the page with a dog like yours: it shows the harness on that breed and where they usually land on the size chart.

It is the same SANPO harness on all four pages, at the same price, in the same 11 colors and four sizes. We show it on four breeds to help you choose the size.

The harness

A closer look at the harness

The same harness on all four breed pages, in 11 colors and four sizes. Here is how it goes together, piece by piece.

  1. The padded body panel

A padded panel curves around your dog’s chest, with a smooth, soft-touch finish you notice the first time you run a hand over it.

  2. Two straps that adjust

One at the neck, one around the chest. Loosen both to put it on, then bring them in until two fingers slide flat underneath.

  3. Two buckles that click

Two side-release buckles. Press each one shut until you hear the click, squeeze the sides to open it again.

  4. The D-ring on the back

The leash clips to a metal D-ring on the back, between the shoulders. For walks, that is where it goes, never the collar.

Eleven colors

Match it, or mix it

Poppy, Caramel, Ink, Lilac, Peony, Blush, Fern, Pebble, Lemon, Cornflower and Navy. The harness, the leash, the collar and the bag holder come in all eleven, so the walk looks put together without trying.

Why the name

Sanpo means a walk

Sanpo is the Japanese word for a walk: the everyday kind, around the block or through the park. We look at it from their height. A foot off the ground, a walk is smells, leaves, other dogs and whatever is around the next corner.

Measure first

Get the size right

Two measurements and one quick check. All you need is a soft tape measure, a patient dog and maybe a treat.

  1. Measure the chest

Wrap the tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs. Snug, not tight.

  2. Measure the neck

Then around the neck, where a collar sits. Read both against the chart below.

  3. Check two fingers

Once it is on and both buckles have clicked, two fingers should slide flat under every strap. Too much room, bring the straps in; too little, let them out.

Morning, midday, evening

Three walks a day

The walks you take every day, and one small thing that helps each one.

  1. A Jack Russell in the Lemon harness on a sunrise street, beside an owner holding a coffee

    Morning

Coffee in one hand, the loop handle in the other, and a nose that wants to read every lamppost on the block. On summer days, go early, before the sidewalk warms up.

  2. A Shih Tzu in the Peony harness on a shaded park path at lunch, the owner on a bench in the shade

    Midday

A short loop through the park and a sit on the bench in the shade. On warm days, keep to the shady side and bring water for both of you.

  3. A Corgi in the Cornflower harness on a city sidewalk at blue hour, warm windows behind it, the leash short

    Evening

Blue hour, warm windows, one more sniff before home. Near curbs, driveways and doors, keep the leash short.

Questions

Before you order

Anything else? Write to us from our contact page. We reply within 2 business days.

Which size should my dog take?

Measure the chest just behind the front legs and the neck where a collar sits, then compare with the maker’s chart on our size guide. If the chest and the weight point to different sizes, go by the chest. Between two sizes, take the larger one.

How do I measure my dog?

With a soft tape measure: around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs, then around the neck where a collar sits. Keep the tape flat and snug, not tight, while your dog is standing. No tape? A piece of string and a ruler do the job.

Is the Corgi Harness different from the Frenchie Harness?

No. It is the same SANPO harness on all four breed pages, at the same price, in the same 11 colors and four sizes. Each page shows it on a different dog and helps you with the size for that breed.

Where does the leash clip?

To the metal D-ring on the back of the harness, between the shoulders. Check that the snap hook is closed before you head out. For walks, the leash goes on the harness, never the collar.

Can I wash the harness?

Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air dry flat, away from a heater or direct sun. The leash and the collar wipe clean the same way. For now, wiping is all we suggest.

Do the colors match across the gear?

Yes. The harness, the leash, the collar and the bag holder come in the same 11 colors, from Poppy to Navy. Screens show color a little differently, so the shade in your hand can look slightly different from the one on your screen.

Do the bags fit the holder?

The Bag Holder takes one roll at a time, and our Poop Bags are the rolls we sell to go in it. We are still confirming the exact roll size with the maker in writing. If a roll ever does not go in, write to us at contact@sanpodog.com.

What if the size is wrong?

Try the harness or collar on indoors first. If the size is off, send it back unused within 30 days of delivery and order the right one, or write to us with your dog’s measurements and we will help you choose. Return shipping for a change of mind is paid by the customer; we send the return address by e-mail, and it may be outside the United States. For a defective, damaged or wrong item, we pay it. Wrong size and returns.

How long does delivery take?

Allow about 8 to 15 business days from order confirmation: orders leave within 1 to 3 business days and travel 7 to 12 business days, with tracking. Shipping and import duties are included in the price, and we deliver to the 50 US states and Washington, D.C. You can cancel an order until it ships.

Anything to check before the first walk?

Check the fit and both buckles before every walk. Never leave your dog alone in a harness or collar, in a crate or playing with other dogs: straps can catch. Never tie your dog up with the leash, the harness or the collar, and never lift or carry them by the harness or the leash. Our harness is not a car restraint. Keep the bags away from babies and children. More on our Fit & Safety page.

Same time tomorrow?

A padded harness, a leash, a collar, a bag holder and the bags, in eleven colors, for the walk you take every day.
